AB Cricket Academy Nelson

AB Cricket Academy Nelson is led by Sean Neal in partnership with AB Cricket Academy founder Ankur Bassi. Sean is a dedicated cricket coach who is passionate about nurturing talent and equipping players with the technical, tactical, mental, and physical skills required to succeed in the modern game.

Sean brings a diverse cricketing background, having played high-level club cricket in England, Wellington, and Otago. These experiences have exposed him to a variety of playing conditions, coaching philosophies, and competitive environments, giving him a well-rounded understanding of the game. Alongside his playing career, Sean is also a qualified personal trainer who has worked with athletes across multiple sports, helping them optimise their physical performance and athletic development.

Having spent more than ten years learning and developing under the mentorship of Ankur Bassi, Sean has built extensive coaching knowledge and expertise. He currently serves as Head Coach of the Nelson Men’s Representative Cricket Team, where he focuses on developing players capable of performing at the highest levels. His coaching philosophy centres on a holistic approach to player development, ensuring every player builds strong technical foundations while developing tactical awareness, mental resilience, and physical preparedness.
